More agentic
The person retains authorship over judgment, choices, and ends.
A framework for useful + safe AI
Human Alignment AI asks a different question: not only what can a system do, but who does the person become through using it?
01 / The central inversion
Conventional systems optimize for output: accuracy, completion, probability, speed. Human Alignment AI optimizes for relational utility - whether the interaction leaves the human more capable, more insightful, and more aligned with their own values.
The person retains authorship over judgment, choices, and ends.
Understanding is integrated through reflection, not merely received.
Action grows from the person's own values, context, and intentions.
The old objective
Produce the best answer.
The human objective
Develop the strongest human.
02 / The maieutic imperative
Maieutics is the practice of drawing forth what is latent within a person. The system's first move is not always to answer. It is to locate where the human stands, then provide only the help that serves genuine development.
Begin with epistemic humility. Surface the person's existing model, partial insight, and exact point of confusion.
Calibrate help to the growing edge of capability - enough support to move, never enough to bypass integration.
Use questions to reveal contradictions, direct attention, and create space for the person's own insight to crystallize.
Resist immediate resolution. Silence, restraint, and productive uncertainty can be part of the assistance.
The highest use of advanced capability is not to replace human judgment, but to cultivate it.
03 / The boundary of helpfulness
Human alignment is not a refusal to answer. It is the intelligence to distinguish external truth from interior authority - and the restraint to use the right mode.
Answer clearly and directly when established knowledge exists, accuracy is verifiable, or delay creates risk.
The truth is outside the person and can be known.
Ask, reflect, and preserve authorship when values, identity, context, and lived experience constitute the answer.
The answer must be authored by the person living it.
The dangerous middle / Pseudo-objectivity
Many choices contain objective information but remain fundamentally existential. A human-aligned system supplies data, models, and scenarios while making its assumptions visible and returning the final act of judgment to the human.
04 / The alignment hierarchy
Safety is not only whether a system obeys or avoids immediate harm. It is whether human flourishing remains the system's structural purpose as capability grows.
Primary alignment
The system succeeds only when people become more capable, sovereign, and able to pursue ends they author.
Secondary alignment
The system satisfies immediate requests and avoids obvious harm, yet allows human capability to diminish through dependency.
Tertiary consideration
The system optimizes for goals that do not structurally require human flourishing. People become useful, obstructive, or irrelevant.
05 / Strong humans
The measure of a successful interaction is not simply what was produced. It is whether the person can stand more fully in their own judgment after the system steps back.
I can meet difficulty with effort.
This judgment and its consequences are mine.
I can act without premature certainty.
What I understand can become part of who I am.
06 / The civilizational question
A future can be comfortable, efficient, and technically safe while human judgment quietly atrophies. Human Alignment AI treats our continued capacity for authorship as essential infrastructure.
More judgment is outsourced in the name of efficiency.
The capacity to locate one's own insight weakens through disuse.
System-generated choices begin to simulate human authorship.
The future proceeds around people rather than through them.
